SAT Study Plan for 1500
To plan for 1500, choose a section split that adds to 1500 and review the errors still showing up on fresh timed tests. A split works, but so do or . The plan needs evidence of consistent decisions, not a promised number of study hours.
Start from the unresolved questions
Include incorrect answers, unanswered items and correct guesses. Write what made each uncertain: a missing rule, a wrong equation, two plausible evidence choices or running out of time. Your total alone cannot tell you which one to fix.
If you are at 1400 with 720 Reading and Writing and 680 Math, the next step differs from a 1400 with 620 and 780. Keep the stronger section in mixed practice while concentrating repair on the actual gaps.
A four-week high-score routine
Use this as a template after your baseline review; shorten or lengthen the skill blocks according to what you find.
| Week | Focus | Evidence to keep |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Review a fresh test; choose two unresolved skills | First wrong step for every selected miss |
| 2 | Small hard-skill sets plus mixed easy/medium work | Can you explain the answer without the key? |
| 3 | Full timed modules and one fresh full test | Does the correction survive the timer? |
| 4 | Review remaining uncertainties; one rehearsal if needed; taper | Fresh-test consistency, not a repeated-test peak |
Make hard practice specific
For a parameter problem, identify the condition before using a slider or algebra. For an evidence problem, state the claim and reject a choice that adds an unsupported conclusion. For vocabulary, substitute a meaning into the sentence and test the context.
Keep easier questions in mixed sets. A fast correct answer still needs to answer the exact quantity asked. Check units, signs and whether the question wants an input, output, coefficient or sum.
If you have 18 days to move from 1400 to 1500
Spend days 1–3 on diagnostic review, days 4–10 on the two most repeated errors, days 11–14 on timed transfer and days 15–18 on review and test-day readiness. Leave a long enough block for any full test and its review.
This is a way to allocate limited time, not evidence that 100 points can be gained in 18 days. If unseen practice still shows the same errors, adjust the plan instead of treating the calendar as proof you are ready.
Stop measuring only the best result
Compare the latest fresh tests and the reasons for remaining misses. If a 1510 came from a test you already saw, keep that repeat separate from a first attempt. If the score moved but the same reasoning is unresolved, keep reviewing it.
A 1500 is at the 97th user-group percentile in the College Board table checked October 2, 2026. It can still fall at different places in different colleges’ ranges, and it never guarantees admission.

FAQs
Can I improve from 1400 to 1500?
It is possible, but timing and amount of improvement depend on the errors behind your score. Check progress on fresh timed work rather than assuming a fixed gain.
How many hours does 1500 take?
There is no reliable universal hour-to-score formula. Use your baseline, specific skill gaps and fresh practice results to adjust the workload.
Must I get 750 in both sections?
No. Different valid splits, including 720 + 780, also total 1500.
