What makes these questions hard

Every question here targets the 700+ scoring range — the kind of problem the SAT saves for positions 17-22 of a math module. Most of them stack two or three skills in a single prompt: a quadratic hidden inside a function translation, an exponent rule buried in a percent-change setup. You can know each skill on its own and still stall when they combine.

The set covers the topics the hardest slots draw from most often — quadratics and their vertices, exponential functions, systems with no or infinitely many solutions, circles, trigonometry, and volume. Many answers are constants you have to solve for rather than clean multiple-choice picks, which is exactly how the real test raises the ceiling.
