Current admissions guidance for University of South Florida
Latest official update: USF’s 2026 admitted profile distinguishes fall and summer. Fall’s ACT range is 28–32; summer’s is 23–26. These are admitted-student ranges, while the federal score snapshot below is historical enrollment reporting.
SAT/ACT policy
USF requires an official entrance-exam result for standard freshman review and superscores submitted tests. Its published SAT section minimums are 490 Reading and Writing and 480 Math. Meeting them establishes a minimum, not competitive admission or a guaranteed place.
Application deadlines
For fall/summer 2027, Early Action applications are due November 2, 2026, with materials due November 16. Regular Decision applications are due December 16, with materials and scholarship consideration due January 15, 2027. Rolling deadlines are March 1 for applications and March 15 for materials.
How to use your SAT score
- Compare a 1250 SAT with the intended term: it is below the fall 2026 reported range and above the summer range. This comparison does not assign you a term or predict a decision.
- Check both sections. A total that looks competitive can still miss a section minimum; prioritize that section rather than using the total alone.
- Send official results early enough for the materials deadline. USF can use the highest submitted sections across test dates, so a section gain can matter without a new best single sitting.

USF median SAT versus a term-specific range
The midpoint of fall’s 1290–1420 range is 1355; that is not an official median, and official SAT totals come in 10-point increments. USF’s table labels ranges under an average-score heading. Use the endpoints as published instead of inventing a single mean.
USF reviews fall applicants for other start terms as well. The fall and summer profiles should remain separate: combining them into one range would hide the difference relevant to your application.
Application date and score deadline are separate
For Early Action in the 2027 entry cycle, November 2 is the application deadline and November 16 the materials deadline. Put both dates on your calendar and check that scores and STARS are received, not merely requested.
A Florida high-school student graduating with an AA degree may qualify for USF’s separate Florida Board of Governors admission pathway. Read that pathway’s transcript and intent-form instructions before assuming the standard freshman testing route is the only option.
