SAT Percentile Lookup Table

Find your total in the table below. A 1250 is at the 80th user-group percentile, 1300 at the 85th, 1410 at the 93rd and 1520 at the 98th. Always keep the comparison-group label with the number.

Quick score lookup

Every reportable total from 1600 to 400, copied from College Board’s published total-score table checked October 5, 2026. Read across the row: the user group is SAT takers from the last three graduating classes; the nationally representative group models all U.S. 11th and 12th graders. “99+” and “1-” are College Board’s rounded labels for above 99 and below 1.

Match the total to the total-score table

Add your two official section scores before looking up a total. A 700 Math is a section score, not a 700 total; it has its own Math percentile. Total percentiles cannot be averaged from section percentiles.

For example, 610 Reading and Writing plus 690 Math produces 1300. Look up 1300 in the total table, then use each section’s separate table if you want section ranks.

Numbers that do not have a current row

1275 is not an individual current SAT total, because official scores use ten-point increments. 1710 is above today’s maximum; it could belong to the old 2400-point SAT. Find the test year and original scale before interpreting it.

If your score is from 2022 or 2024, this live table is current context, not a reconstruction of the percentile printed on that older report. Use the report or the archived table for its original rank.

What this lookup cannot rank

The user group consists of recent graduating classes of SAT takers. It is not a sixth-grade, eighth-grade or country-specific norm. A young student can use it for context, but should not describe the resulting number as a percentile among same-age classmates.

A published rank of 99+ or 1- is deliberately coarse. Do not turn it into an exact percentage such as 99.99 or an exact number of students.

Make the next decision

After finding your rank, write down the school and program you are considering, their testing policy and the year of their score range. Use the college middle-50% guide to interpret that range. For practice, use your recent timed section scores and error log rather than trying to raise the percentile directly.
