Current admissions guidance for UCLA

UCLA is a highly selective public research university in Los Angeles. It does not publish an admissions SAT range because the University of California does not consider SAT or ACT scores in admission decisions.

SAT/ACT policy

UCLA is test-free for admission and scholarship decisions. SAT and ACT scores are not considered, although a score may still be used after enrollment to satisfy subject requirements or determine course placement.

Application deadlines

The UC application opens August 1. Applicants can begin submitting October 1, and the filing deadline is December 1 for Fall 2027 admission.

How to use your SAT score

  • Do not take the SAT solely to improve a UCLA admission decision because UCLA will not consider it.
  • Put the testing time into course rigor, grades, activities, and the UC personal insight questions.
  • Submit AP, IB, or other eligible exam results when they support subject requirements or future credit.
