    SAT Probability Questions: Walkthrough and Examples

    The Basic Formula

    Probability = favorable outcomes / total outcomes. Every SAT probability question eventually reduces to this fraction — your job is to correctly identify each number.

    Two-Way Tables

    Most Digital SAT probability problems come with a two-way table. Identify the row or column that contains your 'total outcomes,' then find the intersecting cell for 'favorable outcomes.'

    AND vs OR

    For independent events, AND means multiply probabilities, OR means add them (and subtract any overlap). SAT will explicitly hint at independence if you need it.
