## SAT Study Plan for 1400

A 1400 is the sum of your section scores: $700 + 700$, $660 + 740$ and $750 + 650$ all work. Start from your current split, identify repeated misses and choose the next practice session from those errors. There is no fixed question-miss budget for 1400.

### Choose a split from your baseline

Suppose your latest fresh practice result is 630 Reading and Writing plus 700 Math, a 1330 total. A 1400 target could mean holding Math near 700 while building Reading and Writing toward 700. It could also come from gains in both sections. Use your error review to judge the more workable route.

| Current split | Example target split | Practice question |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 630 RW + 700 Math = 1330 | 700 RW + 700 Math = 1400 | Which recurring verbal errors explain the gap? |
| 700 RW + 630 Math = 1330 | 700 RW + 700 Math = 1400 | Which Math setups fail before the calculation? |
| 670 RW + 660 Math = 1330 | 710 RW + 690 Math = 1400 | What is one fixable pattern in each section? |

### Week one: find the repeated decision

Take or review one fresh timed test. Separate concept gaps, wrong setups, unsupported reading choices and time-pressure errors. Choose two skills; do not chase every difficult question at once.

For [punctuation](https://1600.now/bank/reading/skill/Boundaries) misses, label [independent clauses](https://1600.now/bank/reading/skill/Boundaries). For linear word problems, define the variable and write the equation before calculating. For evidence misses, underline the claim and the exact passage detail that supports it.

### Weeks two and three: prove the repair

Alternate focused Math and Reading and Writing sessions. Redo a previous miss without its explanation, solve a small fresh set and state the rule or setup aloud. Keep a one-sentence correction in the log.

End each week with a timed module in the section you practiced. If the same mistake returns, narrow the next set. If accuracy is steady untimed but drops under the timer, rehearse the order of decisions rather than adding more topics.

### Week four: check the total on unseen content

Take another unused full test under standard conditions, then compare both the score split and the miss patterns. One high score on a repeat is weaker evidence than several fresh attempts showing the same improvement.

From 1330 to 1400, the nominal gap is 70 points, but no study-hour formula predicts how quickly it closes. A weekly Bluebook test for 20 weeks does not ensure 1400 unless the review leads to changes on new questions. If you are already at 1400 and have 18 days to aim for 1500, prioritize two repeated errors, then check them in fresh timed work; the 1500 study plan provides that shorter schedule without promising the gain.

### What to change when the score stalls

If your mistakes cluster in one skill, target that skill. If they are scattered but share a process error, target the process: checking the requested quantity, signs, units or evidence. If you repeatedly leave questions unread, rehearse pacing in complete modules.

The higher-difficulty second module is not itself a score award. Answer every question as well as you can and use the final practice result, not your impression of module difficulty, as evidence.

### FAQs

#### How many questions can I miss for 1400?

No universal number applies to the adaptive digital SAT. Scaled scores depend on the question set and answer pattern.

#### How do I get from 1330 to 1400?

Start with the section split and review the actual misses. Pick two repeated errors, fix them in focused practice and test the repair on fresh timed work.

#### Is 700 in each section required?

No. Any valid section scores adding to 1400 produce that total.
