## SAT fee in India: USD charge, rupees, and discounts

The base SAT registration fee in India is US$111: US$68 registration plus US$43 international fee. Your card determines the final rupee conversion and any foreign-transaction charge. Check a discount voucher before paying if you qualify for the India Scholars Program.

### Fees and the INR charge

The base international SAT charge is US $111: $68 registration plus $43 international fee. College Board quotes USD; your card's conversion and foreign-transaction charges determine the INR amount. Do not treat a converted estimate as the checkout price.

Late registration adds $38, so the base late total is $149. A center change costs $34. A date change requires canceling and registering again; canceling costs $34 by the change deadline or $44 until 11:59 p.m. ET on the Thursday before test day. Review the [official fee schedule](https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration/international-testing/fees) and the actual checkout before paying. Classes, transport, and extra score reports are separate expenses.

College Board adds a $24 test center fee only at the centers on its [published list](https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/digital/help-center/does-my-test-center-charge-additional-test-center-fee). On October 5, 2026, that August 2026–June 2027 list named centers in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, and none in India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, or Kuwait.

### Separate the exam from the complete budget

Use the payment provider's exchange rate for the actual charge date. A currency converter or a coaching company's rounded ₹10,000 quote cannot establish the final bank statement amount.

Add only the extras you expect to use. If another city needs an overnight stay, compare that cost with a later local sitting. Coaching is optional and should have its own quoted teaching hours and terms.

**Separate the exam from the complete budget**

| Budget item | How to check it |
| --- | --- |
| Base registration | US$111 before discounts/extras |
| Late registration | Additional US$38 within the late window |
| Card conversion | Issuer's USD–INR rate and applicable card charges |
| Center-specific charge | Official listing and checkout, if applicable |
| Extra score reports | US$15 each under the published service schedule |
| Travel and preparation | Separate real quotes; not included in SAT registration |

### India Scholars discounts

The [India Scholars Program](https://international.collegeboard.org/students/sat/india-scholars-program) offers registration discounts to income-eligible India residents in Class XI or XII: 90% for annual family income below ₹8 lakh and 50% between ₹8 lakh and ₹15 lakh. Use the official page's application route and obtain the voucher before completing payment.

Read the voucher's terms and check that it appears in the checkout total. A registration discount is separate from a university tuition scholarship; neither applies merely because you are an Indian citizen.

### Score reports and changes can add costs

College Board's [service schedule](https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration/international-testing/fees) gives four free score reports if ordered by nine days after testing; later or additional reports cost US$15 each. Check the university's policy before selecting recipients.

Before changing the date, read the cancellation rules and new registration total. The US$34 center-change fee is not a simple date-change fee. If a payment does not complete, check My SAT and your payment status before attempting another booking.

### How to register in India

Book through your own [College Board account](https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration/online-registration/registering). A school hosting the exam and a company selling SAT classes are different from the registration service. Paying for tuition does not reserve a test seat.

1. Check the university's last accepted testing date, then choose a sitting that fits it.
2. Use your legal name as it appears on the physical ID you will bring. Upload a photo meeting College Board's requirements.
3. Select your date and India in the center search. Compare the exact campus, address, and available seats during registration.
4. Choose the center, review the charge, and complete payment. Save the confirmed registration in My SAT.
5. Install Bluebook on your testing device. Complete exam setup when it opens before your sitting to obtain the admission ticket.

### Questions before you decide

#### Is the SAT fee fixed in rupees?

No. College Board's base international fee is in USD. Your payment provider's conversion and any card fees determine the INR total.

#### Does the registration fee include preparation classes?

No. Classes and tutoring are separate purchases.

#### Can I get an SAT discount after Class 12?

The India Scholars registration discount page specifies India residents in Class XI or XII who meet its income rules. Do not assume a school graduate is eligible; check the official terms.
